Jason Handman is the weekday meteorologist for WOIO-TV, the CBS affiliate in Cleveland, and provides weather reports on 19 Action News This Morning from 4:30-8am and on 19 Action News at Noon. He joined WOIO/WUAB in 2009. He came to Cleveland from AccuWeather, where Jason presented weather for Bloomberg Television and local affiliates across the country. Additionally, Jason covered winter and tropical storms on location.
Originally from Berwyn, Pennsylvania, Jason started his weather career in high school, where he presented a live weather report to the entire school on the televised morning announcements.
After high school, Jason attended the University of Southern California. In Los Angeles, he interned with the Los Angeles ABC affiliate, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Sirius Satellite Radio, and worked for the world famous KROQ radio station. Additionally, Jason had the opportunity to do live weather, sports and entertainment reporting on The KTLA Morning Show.
Jason earned his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California and completed meteorology courses with Mississippi State University.In his spare time, Jason likes to play the piano, run, play tennis and travel. While he loves to eat, he is a terrible cook, and therefore loves the Cleveland food scene.
As broadcast live on 19 Action News in December 2010, Jason is the current Guinness World Records™ holder for most neck ties worn at once. Jason is honored to be a part of the team bringing you Cleveland's most accurate forecast. He currently resides in Cleveland.
